Day 1
Arrival - Gangtok
We will pick you up from Bagdogra airport/NJP railway station and drive you to the beautiful hill station of Gangtok. Once you reach Gangtok, you’ll check into the hotel. We suggest you spend the evening strolling in MG Marg, the town’s main shopping area, brimming with souvenir shops, coffee shops, multicuisine restaurants, etc.
Day 2
Gangtok Sightseeing
Depending on the best time to be at particular places (catching the sunrise or sunset, crowd, etc), you will be driven to various tourist spots accordingly. Your day will include visiting the famous Banjhakri and Bakthang waterfalls. Both of these falls have their own unique, mesmerizing features. This is your chance to wear the traditional dress of Sikkim, provided at the stall there, and get your picture clicked. You’ll also be visiting Do Drul Chorten (stupa) & Tashi Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, two important religious places that are a must-visit. The Tashi Namgyal Institute of Tibetology holds one of the largest collections of Tibetan works in the world outside Tibet. To get a thrilling view of Gangtok city and the surrounding mountains, you’ll be taken for a ride on the ropeway and also Tashi Viewpoint. End your day snacking on some authentic food of Sikkim at the many local restaurants in MG Marg.
Day 3
Teenjurey Hike
Get ready for a wonderful hike today. After having your breakfast, you will be heading to Teenjurey in Fambong Lho Wildlife Sanctuary, spread across 5 km. The Teenjurey hike, which takes 3.5 hours, goes through a forest of magnolia, maple, and pine. The forest is also home to deer, leopards, red pandas, and many colourful birds. Enjoy the freshness of the surroundings as you proceed to the highest point at 2433m (7980ft) of the sanctuary. From the watch tower at Teenjurey top, you can see a fascinating view of Gangtok town and Teesta Valley on one side and the towering Khangchendzonga peak on the northern horizon (Teenjurey hike video) We will serve packed lunch at Teenjurey. Spend a leisurely hour at the top of the hill and take some splendid photographs before coming back to Gangtok in the afternoon. After the hike, go for an evening stroll at M.G. Marg to mingle with the locals of Sikkim. Enjoy the local cuisines, try some street food, and buy some souvenirs before you return back to your hotel.
