Itinerary Itinerary


Arrival Thimphu

  • Arrival Paro airport and drive to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan at 2320m. En route  stop on the way to take in the magnificent Tachogang Lhakhang, the temple of the hill of the excellent horse.
  • On arrival in Thimphu, check in the hotel. 
  • Drive up to Motithang, a north-western suburb of Thimphu to have Wangditse Gomeba hike. On the way, we will visit the Motithang Takin Reserve to see the national animal of Bhutan, the Takin that has the body of a cow and head of a goat.
  • Evening, stroll around to explore Thimphu town and soak in the atmosphere of this charming capital with crowded shops, bazaars and hospitality local in national dress.
  • Overnight at the hotel in Thimphu.
Thimphu - Gangtey

  • Drive to Gangtey
  • Through the journey few species of birds including Steaked Crimpson woodpecker until you have a break for a lunch at the Royal Botanical Garden Park. 
  • The garden is home to 280 different species of birds including Wards Trogon which is believed to be extinct in other parts of the world. 
  • Overnight at hotel in Gangtey.
Gangtey - Trongsa

  • On the way, you may spot Brown Parrotbill, Great Parrotbill, Green-tailed, Crimson Sunbird, Fire-tailed Myzornis, Speckled Wood Pigeon, Bar-winged wren Babbler, Scaly-breasted waren babbler, Brownish-flanked Bush Warbler, Grey-sided Bush Warbler, Russet Busset Bush Warbler, White-browed Rosefinch, and so on.
  • Overnight at the hotel in Trongsa.
Trongsa - Nabji Village

  • The journey would basically follow the beautiful river flowing through the Trongsa valley until we get into the Kuenga Rabten Palace where used to be the winter palace of the second king of Bhutan
  • After the palace, your journey may spot bird like Pygmy-blue flycatcher, Collard Scops Owl, White-throated neeletail, Grey-headed parrotbill, Black-faced laughing thrush, White-browed Scimitar Babbler, White-tailed Robin, Bay Woodpecker, Speckled Piculet.
  • Overnight at the hotel at Nabji.
Hike from Nabji - Korphu

  • The hike from Nabji to Korphu is very interesting because of the untouched tropical jungles. 
  • Enjoying lunch at farm house and immersing into the local culture would be a wonderful life time experience before you get back to the camp site. 
  • On your hike you may see many kind of birds: Greater Necklace Laughing Thrush, Lesser-necklace Laughing Thrush, Greater Ruffous-headed Parrot bill, Pygmy-blue Flycatcher and so on.
  • Overnight at the hotel at Nabji.
Nabji - Berti (Tingtibi under Zshemgang district)

  • Hike to Berti village will give you an opportunity to witness the ancient trail built by our forefather including royal families of Bhutan
  • Taking the chance to watch many kinds of birds such as Yellow-browed Tit, Yellow-rumped Honeyguide, Ruffous-necked Hornbill, Great Hornbill, Striated Prinia, Striated Laughing thrush, White-throated Laughing thrush, White-crested Laughing thrush, Beautiful Nuthatch, Streak-breasted Scimitar Babbler, Brownish-flanked Bush Warble,  Hume’s Warbler, Tickell’s Leaf Warbler, Crested Bunting, House Swift, Common Kestrel, Chestnut-bellied Thrush, Blue Rock Thrush, Ashy Bulbul, Golden-fronted Leaf bird, Blyth’s Leaf Warbler, Pacific Swift, Greater Spotted Eagle, Black Drongo, Ashy bulbul, Mountain bulbul, Striated bulbul, Black-crested Bulbul, Red-vented bulbul, Great Barbet, and so on.
  • Overnight camp at Tingtibi.
Tangtibi - Manas National Park of Bhutan

  • Drive through the tropical jungle, to Royal Manas national Park  we would be able to witness Babbler, Bhutan Laughing thrush, Scaly Laughing thrush, Rusty-checked Scimitar Babbler, White-crested Laughing thrush, Sultan Tit, Hume’s Warbler, Mountain Tailorbird, Hill Prinia, Striated Prinia, Black Bulbul, Red-vented Bulbul, Yellow-checked Tit, Sultan Tit, Crested Bunting, Grey Bush chat, Great Hornbill, Beautiful Nuthatch, Ruffous-necked Hornbill, Ward’s Tronon, and so on.
  • Overnight at camp in National Park in Manas
Explore Royal Manas National Park

  • The Royal Manas National Park (RMNB) is one of the biggest park covering 1057 sq km, serving as a home for a number of animals including Bengal Tigers, Golden Languar and Great Hornbill, is home to about 1000 plus species plants, trees,& shrubs. More than 426 bird species are said to be found in RMNP like Great Hornbill, Ruffous-necked Hornbill, Grey Peacock Pheasantand the Black Francolin, Blyth’s Kingfisher, Velvet-fronted Nuthatch, Siberean Rubyhroat, White-hooded Babbler, Green Emperial Pigeon, White-rumped Shama, Green Billed Malkoha, Greater Coucal.
  • Over night at Manas camp.
Manas - Gelephu

  • The drive take you back to the hub of city where links all trades between Bhutan and India.
  • Overnight at the hotel in Gelephu.
Sarpang - Punakha

  • Through the drive come across combination of a few different ethnical groups also gives you an opportunity to explore Tsirang [Province dominated by southern Bhutanese] and a break for the picnic lunch. 
  • Birds are from Punakha and Wangdi: Streaked-breasted Scimitar, Rusaty-cheeked Scimitar Babbler, Ultramarine Flycacher, Eurasian Jay, Spotted Forktail, Slaty-backed Forktail, Speckled Wood Pigeon, Spotted Nutcrcker, Grey Treepie, Crested Kingfisher, White-throated Kingfisher, Common Kingfisher, White-Bellied Heron, Little Bunthing, Dark-breasted Rosefinch, Chestnut-tailed Minla (Bar-throated), Red-headed Bullfinch, Brown Bullfinch, Ultramarine Flycacher, Rufous-gorgeted flycatcher. Rufous-breasted Bush Robin, White-broew Bush Robin, Himalayan Bluetail, Black-thrck-throated Parrotbill, Mrs Gould’s Sunbird, Plain Mountain Finch, Fire-tailed Myzonrnis, White-browed Fulvetta, Golden-breasted Fulvetta, Red Crossbill, Collared Grosbeak, Yellow-billed Blue Magpie.

Punakha - Tashi Thang


  • Morning, visit Punakha Dzong and continue to drive towards Jigmi Dorji Wangchuk National Park. 
  • Visit Tashi Thang where you can watch several kind of birds: Wedge-tailed Green Pigeon, Maroon Oriole, White-tailed Nuhatch, Orange-bellied Leaf Bird, Speckled Piculet, Pygmy Wedge Babbler, Spotted Wren Babbler, Shrike-babbler, Black-eared, Yellow-throated, Rufous-winged, Green Shrike-babbler, Lesser Shortwing, Blue-fronted Robin, Hoary-throated, Rusty-fronted Barwing, White-throated Fantail, Yellow-bellied Fantail, Buff-barred Warbler, Lemon-rumped Warbler, Tickell’sLeaf Warbler, Golden-spectacled Warbler,Grey-hooded Warbler, ect.
  • Overnight at camping at Tashi Thang.
Tashi Thang - Paro

  • Post breakfast we drive back to Paro.
  • En route stop at Dochu La Pass. 
  • Post lunch you can go into forest, start climbing through Hemlock forest (3530m).The trails go through different vegetation zone and finally see Lungchutshe Monastery, 
  • Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Birding in Paro

  • Drive to Jana Monastery [Paradise on earth] and see the care feeding the Himalayan Monal Phesant. 
  • Hiking around to see a few different species of birds including Blood Pheasant, Alpine Accentor, Stayr Tragopan, Kalij Pheasant, Himalayan Bluetail, Common Sandpiper, Yellow-billed Blue Magpie, Spotted Nutcracker, White-capped Water Redstart, Himalayan Buzzard, Fire-tailed Myzonrnis, etc.
  • Overnight at the hotel in Paro
Paro sightseeing

  • Hike to the Taksang Monastery - clinging to a steep cliff at more than 3,000m, the hike to the monastery will take approximately 4-5 hours. 
  • Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most imposing temples in the country. It is said that the Tibetan King Sontsen Gampo built 108 temples in the Himalayan region in the 7th century, and Kyichu Lhakhang is one of them. 
  • Special meal with a local family in the late afternoon. 
  • Evening at Leisure.
  • Overnight at the hotel in Paro.
Depart Paro

  • Post breakfast at the hotel, drop to the airport for flight to your onward destination.
