Itinerary Itinerary


Thimphu sightseeing

  • Arrive at Paro International Airport and drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital. 

  • On the way, you will stop at Tachogang Lhakhang (Temple of The Excellent Horse). 

  • Post lunch, you will visit National Memorial Chorten, erected by Bhutan’s third king, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuk for world peace and prosperity. The iconic Tibetan-style building later became a memorial to the third king on his demise.

  • Next stop is Buddha Point (Buddha Dordenma Statue), a giant 51.5m statue overlooking Thimphu Valley

  • Evening at leisure.
Thimphu - Punakha

  • Travel to Punakha, the old capital of Bhutan. On the way, you will visit Dochula Pass to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views of the Eastern Himalayan ranges.

  • Visit Punakha Dzong (Palace of Great Happiness). The imposing site is located at the confluence of two rivers, the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu. All of Bhutan’s kings have been crowned here, and it has witnessed the memorable wedding of the King of Bhutan, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck to Jetsun Pema in 2011.

  • Cross the longest suspension bridge in Bhutan – Pho Chhu Suspension Bridge, to start an easy hike to Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten (altitude: 1,500m).  
Punakha - Paro

  • Return to Paro. En route, stop at Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility, the hike is of 25 minutes passing the farmlands of Lobesa Village.

  • Visit the astonishing Paro Rinpung Dzong (Fortress of The Heap of Jewels).
  •  
  • Right next to the impressive dzong is the former watchtower of Paro – Ta Dzong, or the National Museum of Bhutan.  

  • Finally, head to Sangay Wood Turning Factory, where you can try your hand at creating your own wooden bowls and cups.
Paro sightseeing

  • Hike to Taksang Monastery - clinging to a steep cliff at more than 3,000m, the hike to the monastery will take approximately 4-5 hours. 

  • Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest and most imposing temples in the country.

  • It is said that the Tibetan king Sontsen Gampo built 108 temples in the Himalayan region in the 7th century, and Kyichu Lhakhang is one of them. 

  • Special meal with a local family in the late afternoon. 

  • Evening at leisure.
Departure Paro

  • Post breakfast at the hotel, drop to the airport for flight to your onward destination.
