BEST TIME TO VISIT NORTHEAST INDIA

The best time to visit northeast India depends on your preferred weather and the activities you want to indulge in.

March-mid-June

The summer months are a relief after the harsh winters, and the temperature is within a pleasant range. The skies are clear and the valleys and forests are perfect for hiking and camping. You will see numerous species of flora and fauna that make an appearance during this time.

July-September

Northeast India is not exempt from the monsoons and receives its fair share of heavy showers during this time. While Meghalaya is one such state that comes alive during this season, other places face landslides, which makes it unsafe for travel.

October-November

Straight out of the monsoons, October is a great month to enjoy the outdoors. With clear blue skies throughout the month, the Himalayas offer a wonderful sight and can be spotted on many trekking trails. It’s also the autumn season, and the landscape sees a transformation from vibrant greens to lovely oranges and reds.

December-February

Early winters can be pleasant in the hills until the weather gets harsher and temperatures dip below 0°celcius. However, this is the time to witness snowfall, and places like Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh are the perfect winter destinations.

Winter is also a good time to go on bird-watching tours and safaris in the national parks of Assam. The famed Hornbill festival in Nagaland also takes place in December.

BEST TIME TO VISIT NAGALAND

Nagaland is one of the states in India where life is one long festival. There are 16 major tribes in Nagaland. The state has its own airport at Dimapur and is connected to the rest of the airports in India. The railway station is also located at Dimapur and has good connectivity to the rest of the states and places in India.

The best time to visit Nagaland is throughout the year. From May to July, the temperature ranges from 16°C to 31°C, making it still cooler than most places in India.
