Sangti valley is situated about 14 kilometers from Dirang.It is surrounded by the towering ranges of Eastern Himalayas, blessed with pleasant weather round the year with maybe some light snowfall in the winter months, covered with fruit orchards (kiwi fruit, apple, apricot, orange), dotted with pristine forests and meandering fast hill rivers.And it is also home to the black necked cranes who come to the fields of this valley every winter
The Monpas village of Thembang, is a settlement within a fortified area measuring approximately 3.2 Acres. It is a host to several ancient and historical structures and has drawn the maximum attention for the fortified Dzong constructed using traditional technology of the region. This village was nominated for UNESCO World Heritage site in 2014. The Thembang Dzong is located at the altitude of 2169 m. above MSL.

There a number of old wooden suspension bridge over the Sangti River it’s an experience to walk across the gently swaying bridge to the Monpa villages and orchards of Kiwi, apple and apricots across the river.

The Nyukmadong War Memorial is located on a specious 1.5 acre plot of land, overlooking the famous battle ground of 18 Nov 1962. It nestles in a three tired terraced landscape with beautiful coniferous trees planted around. The main memorial is in the form of a 25 feet high ‘Chorten’ conforming to the local ethos and traditions. On both sides of the memorial, plaques listing the names of officers and Jawans, who died here on that fateful day, have been erected. The memorial is staffed by Junior Commission Officers, who are more than willing to narrate detailed account of the battle.
