Ziro

A breathtaking, serene town in Arunachal Pradesh, Ziro is known for its scenic beauty. The town is bestowed with lush greenery, thick forests, cool breeze, and rolling hills. The town is home to the Apatani tribe, whose women are recognized for their facial tattoos and nose plugs. A visit to the town is truly a refreshing one as it is dotted with a number of tourist attractions such as Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, 25-foot tall Shiva Linga at Kardo Forest (4 km from Hapoli Township), Meghna Cave Temple, and pine & bamboo groves. You can catch a glimpse of the unique agricultural practice of the Apatanis, which involves rearing fish in the paddy fields. Ziro has been named a World Heritage Site.

Kile Pakho

The ridge Kile Pakho is situated 7 km away from old Ziro. The place would delight nature lovers for the scenic beauty it has to offer. Climb on the ridge and you can gaze at Ziros plateau’s spectacular views on one side and snow-clad Himalayan ranges on the other.

Ziro Puto

It is a hillock where independent India’s first administrative centre was established. The place is also known as Army Puto and was established during the 1960s. You can have spectacular views of the Apatani plateau from the hillock. It is a beautiful hillock where the valley is inhabited by the Apatani tribe.

Pine Grove

It is one of the most frequented tourist destinations in Ziro. The entire area is pine clad. It is situated nearly 3 kms away from old Ziro, also known as Myolyang, and is famed as a picnic spot. Dotted with pine trees, this place is quite scenic and is known to attract a lot of photographers. It is a perfect place to plan a day outing.

Bamboo Grove

Bamboo Grove stands proof of the expertise displayed in farm forestry in this part of the land. One stem bamboo, referred to as monopodial, is grown here with blue clad pine. This spot is frequented by hikers as well as tourists.

Hong Village

Hong village in middle of the Ziro valley is a medium size village predominantly Apatanis, There are a couple of old families with traditional houses. Most of the fields have a small pond which are used for fish farming and frog rearing.

Shivalinga

At Kardo forest a miraculous Shiva Lingam of Sidheshwar Nath Temple can be seen also the image of Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganesha with trunk turning leftward. it is also said that the goddess of water, the Ganga lives with Lord Shiva. Therefore, the constant flow of water from the base of the Lingam can be seen clearly. The Shivalinga is 25 feet tall which makes it the tallest natural Shivalinga in the world, it is about 4 km away from Hapoli town.

Tarin Fish Farm

About 3.5 km from Hapoli town, one can see beautiful high altitude fish farm where breeding of high altitude fishes is done. The fingerling is sold during paddy cultivation season. The farm is taken care by District Fishery Development officer, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.

Handicraft Center

Handicraft and Handloom Center and Museum (closes for lunch between 12:30 to 2:00 pm). It has 4 sections: weaving/handloom, carpets, bell metal works, and carpentry. The center also houses an emporium that displays the finished works of the trainees; one can buy souvenirs from here.
