Situated only 6 km away from Dimapur, Rangapahar is a quaint little hill station with one of the most popular forest reserves in its pocket. The town is a natural paradise clubbed with numerous viewpoints, waterfalls and green valleys.
One of the most famous tourist attractions in the District of Nagaland, the Rangapahar reserve forest is a prime example of how man and nature coexist in Nagaland. The forest is flourished with biodiversity. You can find animals like bear, deer, chitals, wild goats and many more. Aside from that, many endangered species are also preserved in the forest which are rarely seen elsewhere.
Inaugurated in the year 2008 with a mission to save and protect the endangered flora and fauna. The Nagaland Zoological Park today has gained a lot of popularity among both locals and tourists. The zoo is a good place to go with kids. Some of the animals you can see are tigers, leopards, monkeys, and deer, including birds. There’s also a jungle trail inside. A small canteen provides tea/coffee and light snacks.
