Mustang

Mustang (from the Tibetan words Muntan meaning "fertile plain") is located in the Kali Gandaki Valley of Western Nepal. Mustang is segregated as Lower and Upper Mustang. However, Upper Mustang is not easily accessible Lower Mustang is one of the most popular travel destinations in the country attracting thousands of tourists, both national and international, annually. Upper Mustang however is not easily accessible but provides the experience of an age-old Tibetan culture and tradition that has been isolated, preserved, and untouched ever since.

 Marpha Village, Mustang
Marpha Village

Marpha Village, you will find traditional flat mud roofed houses topped with firewood stacks, long flagstoned expanses, and paved alleyways. It is one of the most famous villages of Nepal on the Annapurna Circuit Trek route, with apple groves, apple products, and a heavy reliance on agriculture, livestock, tourism, and foreign labour.

Lo Manthang

Lo Manthang is a Tibetan settlement situated 90 kilometers away from Jomsom that belongs to the Kingdom of Upper Mustang, and was a part of the kingdom during the monarchy of Nepal; the settlement is walled, so it is known as the walled city. On sheer cliffs at 14,000 feet, there are about 12 caves with ancient Buddhist paintings. These caves have silver and gold paintings in Tibetan script from the 13th century. Many of the caves contain Buddhist stupas.
