Dentam is a scenic village located 10 km from Varsey in West Sikkim District. It is at an elevation of around 1,500 m. Dentam commands a constant view of the Kanchenjunga. The entire area is surrounded by forest of rhododendrons. Pemayangtse Monastery (10 km), Ravangla (69 km) and Hilley are nearby interesting destinations to visit. The village is an ideal spot for bird watchers and nature lovers. Trekking and mountaineering are arranged here. Accommodation is available at Pelling and Pemayangtse.
The Singshore Bridge is considered the highest bridge in the entire state and the second highest suspended bridge in Asia. It sprawls across a length of 198 metres and is 220 metres deep. The bridge offers a spectacular view of the verdant hillsides, overwhelming waterfalls, and the pristine valley.
Cheese Factory - Set up in 1996 under the Diary Development Program of the Indo-Swiss Project Sikkim (ISPS), Sikkim Alpine Cheese Spread is producing quality cheese, extracted from quality cow’s milk under hygienic environment. Manufactured by Sikkim Diary Products Pvt. Ltd, Sikkim Alpine Cheese Spread is the second product to be launched by the unit after Alpine Cheese Gouda – rated as best in the country.
Trout farm – At a distance of about a kilometer from Uttarey Trout Hatchery Centre at Simphok has been established by the Department of Fisheries, Govt. of Sikkim for rearing, breeding, marketing and distribution to the public as a part of rural livelihood projects. This centre has become a model hatchery for trout breeding in the region and is supplying.
Changay Falls – One of the waterfalls on the way to Dentam this waterfall is quite big and is visible from the road itself and now has become one the major tourist attraction of the region. The waterfall is active throughout the year.
Singalila Gate – At a distance of half an hour walk across the Uttray River on the Singalila Trekking Trail, there stands a beautiful gate which is known as “Singalila Gate”, having some unique Ethnic House around. This gate is very famous as the “Gate Way of Indo-Nepal Boarder Trade Route” and also is the gate way bridging the famous Khangchendzonga Biosphere Reserve (Khangchendzonga National Park) with the popular Barsey Rhododendron and wild Life Sanctuary. The beautiful Mainibas Khola forms the border line in between the National park and sanctuary.
