Mountaineering in Sikkim
Five peaks are open for mountaineering in Sikkim namely Frey’s Peak (5830 mtr), Lama Angden (5868 mtr), Brumkhangse (5635 mtr), Mt. Tinchenkang (6100 mtrs) and Mt. Joponu (6002 mtrs)
The following royalty shall be levied for the expedition
For foreign expedition team: US $350 per team of up to four members, US $500 per team of up to eight members and US $75 for every additional member.
For domestic expedition team: Rs. 15,000/- per team of up to eight members and Rs. 1,500/- for every additional member.
For local expedition team: Rs. 3,000/- per team of up to eight members and Rs. 300/- for every additional member.
The permit for these Alpine Expeditions is issued by the Home Department. The has to be paid to Forest, Environment and Wildlife Management Department, while the Department of Tourism, Government of Sikkim oversees the expeditions.
