Location Overview:

Guwahati, the capital city of Assam, is the most important city in North-East India in terms of its population size, transport connectivity and strategic location. It has a beautiful landscape with hills and vast Brahmaputra. Responding to multifarious developments, internal and external, the city of Guwahati must respond to its existing problems, the new emerging socio-economic forces with a vision of its own. Guwahati, most importantly being the state perform its functions as a gateway to the North East India.

Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, is a hill town, situated in the northeastern part of India. Shillong in Meghalaya is situated at an altitude of 1496 m above sea level. Shillong is called the Scotland of the East.

The rolling hills around the town reminded the British of Scotland. Hence, the British started referring to Shillong as Scotland of the East.

Itinerary Itinerary


Guwahati – Kaziranga National Park


  • Arrive at Guwahati airport and drive to Kaziranga. The drive from Guwahati to Kaziranga takes 5 hours.

  • Check in to your hotel and unwind for the rest of the day.

  • Overnight stay in Kaziranga.

Explore Kaziranga National Park


  • After breakfast enjoy a jeep safari inside Kaziranga National Park. Take the opportunity to see the best attraction of the park, the one-horned rhino.

  • In the evening visit a tea garden and local villages. 

  • Overnight stay in Kaziranga.

  • Note: Elephant rides, jeep safaris, and forest entry are regulated and controlled by the forest dept. Govt. of Assam. Hence, we do not have any control over the booking of elephant seats and jeep entry.

Kaziranga – Shillong


  • After breakfast drive to Shillong, Meghalaya (290 km/7-hr drive approx). Check in to your hotel on arrival.

  • Overnight stay in Shillong.

Shillong Sightseeing

  • Shillong is a charming little hill station and the capital city of Meghalaya. Shillong gets its name from Lei Shillong, an idol worshipped at the Shillong Peak. Shillong is surrounded by pine trees. The picturesque landscape of Shillong provides visitors some amazing walking trails and viewpoints, besides stunning lakes and waterfalls. Shillong is known as the “Scotland of the east” primarily due to the similarities in the landscape. Shillong is also famous as the music capital of India, as many prominent musicians have hailed from this place.

Shillong - Cherrapunjee

  • After breakfast, you will trek to the Single Decker Living Root Bridge. The 4 km trek will take 3-4 hours.
  • The trek starts from the hotel premises and goes downhill through Sohsarat village. The steps are relatively steeper in two short stretches. Half the distance is covered by steps going downhill. This is followed by a jungle path going along the sides of the hill leading to the Living Root Bridge with a few steps after short stretches of the sloping footpath. Moss thrives on these sandstone steps during the monsoon and makes them slippery.
  • Trek back to the hotel and spend the evening at leisure with traditional music played by the locals.

Cherrapunjee – Mwallynong – Shillong

  • After breakfast, you will go on an excursion to Mawlynnong (100 km/3 hrs drive approx).
  • Drive back to Shillong for an overnight stay.
  • Mawlynnong village is dubbed the cleanest village in India by Discover India Magazine. You get an excellent view of the faraway plains of Bangladesh. A day in this village will give you an insight into the life of the Khasis.
  • Note: It is advisable to carry packed lunch to Mawlynnong.

Shillong – Guwahati 

  • After breakfast, you will drive to Guwahati.

  • Post hotel check-in, visit the most famous temple in Guwahati—Kamakhya Mandir.

  • The temple is situated at the top of Nilachal Hill at about 800 feet above sea level. The temple complex comprises the main Devi temple besides other major temples of Devi Kali, Tara, Bagala, Chinnamasta, Bhuvanesvari, Bhairavi, and Dhumavati.

  • Later, you can visit Sankardev Kalakhetra and enjoy a light and sound show or opt for an evening cruise on direct payment.

  • Overnight stay in Guwahati.
