Overview Overview

Location Overview:

Once a Buddhist kingdom governed under a monarchy, Sikkim is now a part of Northeast India. Cradled in the eastern Himalayas, Sikkim is home to Mt. Khangchendzonga, the 3rd highest peak in the world, and other high-altitude lakes. North Sikkim is popular for its picturesque hamlets, flowering valleys, and snowfall. Sikkim is inhabited by 3 main communities: Lepcha, Bhutia and Nepali.

Darjeeling is just 78.5 km from Sikkim and falls in W. Bengal. Mt. Khangchendzonga forms the backdrop of this popular hill station known for its tea gardens and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway/Toy Train besides the pleasant weather. It is appreciated for its colonial architecture.
