A beautiful Hindu pilgrimage center and an important shrine of all India Parshuram Kund is located in the Telu Shati or Tailung area of Mishmi plateau in the lower reaches of the Lohit River in Arunachal Pradesh in India. The holy place is approximately 48 kilometers away if we take a route via Tohangam from Tezu the headquarter of Lohit District in Arunachal Pradesh.
The holy place is especially dedicated to Saga Parshuram, the popular site attracts pilgrims from Nepal and other states of India like Manipur and Assam. Many people following the Hinduism faith visit the holy place and mostly the place is crowded during the festival or occasion of Makar Sankranti in the month of January. Many devotees and sadhus over 70000 take a holy dip in its water every year and it is believed that the holy dip is taken to wash away one’s sins as told by the local people. It is a very beautiful place to visit the place is surrounded by a dense forest and it falls within the Kamlang reserve forests.
According to Hindu faith, the sage Parshuram, on the advice of some sages is said to have wandered all over the Himalayan range to atone for the sin of matricide initiated by his father. The axe that was stuck to his hand fell away cleaving the mountain that sprang the Brahmakund. For adventurous lovers there is a facility for trekking from Tezu to Glow Lake which is a one day hike. Other activities like hiking, river rafting, and angling can also be done on the Lohit River. To reach the beautiful holy place one needs to reach Tezu which is the nearest town of Parshuram Kund. Tezu and Dibrugarh of Assam are the nearest airports and the nearest railway station is Tinsukia railway station of Dibrugarh city in Assam and from Tinsukia railway station it is almost 204 kilometers which are approximately 5 hours drive from the railway station for which one need to hire a taxi or take a local public transport where buses are available via Namsai till Tezu and from Tezu need to hire a local taxi.
