Dewakota is a holy place surrounded by Nyigong River (Yangshang Chu) and it is located in the plateau. The meaning of Dewakota is the abode of God and it is derived from Sanskrit. From Tuting town it is almost 40 kilometers away and Dewakota is accessible by porter track only from Tuting. To reach Dewakota one needs to trek from Tuting and need to stay overnight in Nyukong, it is a two days trek from Tuting to Dewakota. Accommodation is also available in Dewakota like Local Caretaker or Lama of Dewakota provides a rest house for the visitors. One can see Holy Shrines, caves, lakes, Gompa and Chorten in Dewakota. The followers of Buddhism mostly visit this place and it is one of the blessed places. Dewakota is worth to visit after a two days trek from Tuting. Along with a holy prayer one can also enjoy the beautiful nature of Dewakota. The natives believe that Guru Rimpoche has kept a much-sacred treasure/script (TER) at Dewakota, which is yet to be revealed and deciphered. It is said that more than 100 pilgrims are accommodated in a cave at a time. The best time to visit Dewakota in Tuting in Arunachal Pradesh is during the winter season because in the summer season the caves remain submerged under Yangshang Chu River or Nyigong River. Many people dreams to visit this holy place but very few will make it visit and offers a prayer. It is believed that those who visit Dewakota for 3 times will attain heaven and also wipe off all past sins. The Membas of Gelling and Khambas of Singha believe that the present pilgrim places like Dewakota, Riutala, Pema Shree, Dakar Tashi and Jachung were engraved by Lord Guru Rimpoche or Guru Padma Sabbawa – the Second Buddha. These holy spots were later discovered and unraveled by His Holiness TERTON NYANGGOE.
