The Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most visit wildlife sanctuaries in Tripura and the Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Bishalgarh which is almost 25 kilometres away from Tripura. The area of Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary is about 18.53 square kilometres along with a botanical garden, a mini zoo etc. In the year of 1987, the area was declared a protected area. The Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary is also a home for many wild animals like Leopard, Clouded leopard, Jungle fowl, Civets, Barking, Deer, Wild pig, etc and the forest is the habitat of different species of primates like Rhesus macaque, Pigtailed macaque, Capped langur, Spectacled monkey, Slow loris and several other. The Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary is also famous for its clouded leopard and the wildlife sanctuary has a variety of birds of around 150 species every year during winter seasons the migratory birds visits the sanctuary. The terrain is green throughout the year and the weather is temperate except for the two humid summer months of March and April. The additional attractions for the tourist at Sepahijala are spectacular view of coffee and rubber plantations, boating facilities in the artificial lake. Sipahijala wildlife sanctuary is a wonderful place for a family outing over the weekend. It has a decent zoo for children with a variety of animals and birds. In addition it has a forest rest house which has rooms available on prior booking through the forest department. Though night stays are not permitted, one can book guestrooms for a day visit. Overall it is a very great place to visit especially with kids and the Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary is also a great destination for nature lovers and bird watchers. The nearest airport to reach the Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary is Agartala airport which is almost 34.7 kilometres away and the nearest railway station is Agartala railway station which is almost 21.4 kilometres away and from both the place one can take a bus from the Agartala bus stand or can even hire small vehicles.
