Nagaland Zoological Park is a unique place to find animals and birds from the area in enclosed space. The park is situated in an area of 176 hectares with rolling plateau and low lying areas suitable for aquatic birds. The park was started with objective to develop and inculcate a sense of caring towards the flora and fauna of the region. The park was inaugurated in the year 2008. It also wants to serve as a conservation center for the fauna of the North East in general and Nagaland in particular.
Nagaland Zoological Park is situated 6 kms from Dimapur city and 11 kms from Diezephe, in Rangpahar area of Nagaland. Mammals like panther, bear, bats, stag etc are available here. Cobra and Python attract a lot of visitors within the campus. Birds like hornbill, parrot, hawk, horned owl etc are found here. Zoo authority also organizes safaris on regular basis to see wildlife closely and to enhance zoo business.

The park’s authorities promote awareness, educate and provide recreation for the people of the state. It also wants to promote awareness and education among the people of Nagaland. One can easily find local bus from Dimpaur and Diezephe to reach zoological park.
The entry fee for adults is INR 10 and for children is INR 5. Taking camera inside is on extra cost basis. INR 25 for still camera and INR 100 for video camera. As Nagaland is best in winters, hence, visiting zoological park also is the best between the months of November to March.
It’s a must visit place for tourists visiting Nagaland to enjoy stats’s flora and fauna at one place. Locals come here for picnic on holidays and spend good family time. Tourists with kids should come hereto enhance their knowledge on wildlife.
