Nengkong is located 14 kms from Baghmara at the National Highway 217. It lies in the South Garo Hills District of Meghalaya. This place is famous for 3 caves - Tetengkol Balwakol, Dobakkol Chibe Nala and Bok Bak Dobhakol.
Tetengkol Balwakol – This cave is 533 km in length and said to be the second longest cave of the Indian subcontinent.
Dobakkol Chibe Nala – This is a 2 kms long cave and is located at the Chibe Nala River. It is hidden by a huge rock at the entrance.
Bok Bak Dobhakol – This is the smallest among all three caves and is approx 1 km.
As it is a remote area, there is no accommodation available nearby. Nearest place to stay is Baghmara Tourist Lodge. Local buses run from Baghmara to Nengkong. While coming from Tura, which is 135 kms, one needs to book a cab to reach here.
Caves are beautiful from inside with different rock formations and designs. Also it can be great experience for adventure lovers. Nengkong is a must visit place for people traveling to Baghmara region.
