Mariyang is a small town located in the Upper Siang District in Mariyang Tehsil in the northeastern state of India in Arunachal Pradesh. The district headquarters Yingkoing is located 23 kilometers away towards the South. Mariyang comes under the Tuting town which is a charming little town surrounded by dense forests and mountains. Mariyang is the homeland for many local communities like Padam, Pasi and Millang. The Padams, Millangs and Pasis have a rich traditional culture. The place is surrounded by Riga Tehsil towards West, Yingkoing Tehsil towards North and Rumgong Tehsil towards West. Every year during the month of September the Solung festival is celebrated and during the festival all the villagers take part and a traditional dance form namely Ponung is performed by the village belles.
