Ungma Nature Park is located in Ungma village, 6 kms from Mokokchung. Ungma (Soyim) is the oldest and largest Village in the District. The village has more than 1000 households. Legends has it that the Ao people first settled in Ungma after coming from their ancestral home at Chungliyimti (the origin of Ao people as per folklore). At present Chungliyimti falls under Sangtam Naga Territory.
Ungma Nature Park is a boost to tourism and opportunity for national mountain bike racers. In observation to enthuse bikers, Asemjungba Semchir along with Trail Hounds Cycling club organization decided to launch mountain bike race at Ungma’s Nature Park to attract nationwide tough riders at Mokokchung district, Nagaland. Even below eighteen years youth participated along with top professional racers at the launch of first Tzudir Yimka MTB race 2016 at Nature Park.
This thrilling winter sport event was organized by Trail Hounds Cycling club to boost economic conditions of its community with assistance of Asemjungba Semchir who operates the Nature Park. Mokokchung’s this first MTB park invited all gender bike racers to participate in the open cross country race.
Ungma Nature Park
Locals come here to have leisure time with family and kids. One can easily reach there by local transport from Mokokchung. However, approach road is bit steep and rocky and has sharp hair-pin bend. Park has watch towers, tree houses, hanging bridge, swings for children and lot more. The view of surrounding nature is mesmerizing from the cliff. People come here for meditation too as it offers calm ad serene environment to peace lovers.
Cafeteria is available within the park which opens daily at 12:00 noon. Place is a perfect stop for family and couples. Tourists visiting Mokokchung, should visit Ungma Nature Park for some enthralling experiences. The entry fee to park is INR 30 per person.
