Choephelling Tibetan Refugee settlement camp is in the Miao Township under Changlanf district and it is almost four kilometers away from the Miao. It is one of the oldest settlements for Tibetan refugees. This is the largest camp after the Tezu settlement camp. Many tourists visit this Choephelling Tibetan Refugee settlement camp and a beautiful monastery in the middle of camp is the major tourist attraction. The Choephelling Tibetan Refugee settlement camp is inhabited by around 500 families is they are actually living a very good life and most of them are engaged in works both nationally and internationally. Though the place is small it is beautiful at the bank of River Nao – Dehing and the place are particularly surrounded by picturesque scenic beauty. The camp is divided into many sections mostly people engage in their homesteads and few mostly women are engaged in household works and the woolen carpet and crafts center. The place is really worth to visit and the items manufactured by the local people are must-buy items. The raw materials mainly cotton yarn and wool of super quality boasts from this area and a large portion of which goes to the global market. The things which are procured from Panipat and some from New Zealand are exotic weaves to international standards and sold in the global market. In the camp as per the information by the settlement officer of the camp there are almost around 26 women who are highly skilled weavers and around six male counterparts in the carpet industry and on average earns around INR 20 Lakhs annually. They produced colorful carpets of different designs of wool at Choephelling Tibetan Refugee settlement camp and in Miao apart from Choephelling Tibetan Refugee settlement camp there are other places to see like Mini zoo, museum, Bishop House, oil drilling at Kharsang and Manabum.
