The Mahamuni Buddha Temple is situated at the North-Eastern part of Sabroom Sub-Division of south Tripura in Manubankul village. The distance from capital city Agartala to Manubankul village is around 119 kilometres which is about two and half hours drive. One can take a taxi from Agartala to Bankul or can even take a public transport a bus at the rate of INR 90 – 100 per person and from Bankul to reach the main location Mahamuni Buddha Temple or Mahamuni Pagoda one can take auto-rickshaw at the rate of INR 30 per person. The Buddha Temple is very beautiful and it was built many years ago under the leadership of Mathu Mog and others. The Mahamuni Pagoda is one of the most visits and a very beautiful Buddha Temple in the northeastern state of Tripura and the monastery bears the Buddhist idioms of expressions in religious architecture.

Many followers of Buddhism and non Buddhism visits the Mahamuni Pagoda and every year during the month of March-April a week-long festival is held and the festival brings about a lot of happiness and bliss to the people. During the festival Lord Buddha is worshipped in the monastery by both Buddhist and Hindu Communities. The Temple attracts thousands of Buddhist and non-Buddhist pilgrims from every corner of the state as well as from neighbouring countries like Myanmar, Thailand, Srilanka and Bangladesh. The Mahamuni Buddha Temple is open throughout the year and the visiting hour is from morning 6 AM to evening 7 PM. The nearest airport to reach Bankul village is Maharaja Bir Bikram airport of Agartala and the distance from Agartala airport to Bankul village is almost 127 kilometres and from the airport or the nearest railway station, one needs to take a public transport or hire a taxi to reach the main destination.
