Pongging hanging bridge is a lifeline of the people of Pongging village which is located in Katan Sub District of Upper Siang District in the state of Arunachal Pradesh in India. Pongging is a small village with a population of almost 339 and about 50 houses. The Pongging hanging bridge is made of metal and bamboo frame and the hanging bridge is only the way of transportation for the villagers. From Bodak village which is approximately 10 kilometers from the Pongging hanging bridge one needs to walk downwards to reach the Pongging village crossing the Pongging hanging bridge. Many villagers walk on an everyday basis crossing the Pongging hanging bridge. Every day the villagers from Pongging village walk 6 to 10 kilometers carrying at least 20 to 30 kg of things on their head and cross the Pongging hanging bridge. The visitors will enjoy the hanging bridge since one can view the splendid view of the river which is surrounded by green hills and it is really joyful to view the natural beauty. The nearest town or the main market is Pasighat from Pongging village which is almost 100 kilometers away and the district headquarter is almost 115 kilometers away from the Pongging village. The district headquarters of the Pongging village is Yingkiong. The Pongging village is the 4th least populous village of Arunachal Pradesh in India. The sub-district headquarter is Katan which is almost 35 kilometers away from the Pongging village. The nearest police station is Mebo Police Station and the nearest hospital is Mebo Community Health Centre. From Pangin to reach Pongging hanging village it is only 17 kilometers hence one can reach Pangin by road or by train. The nearest rail station from Pangin is Murkeongselek, East Siang, Ruksin situated at a distance of around 53 kilometers from Siang district headquarters. From Pangin a vehicle like Tata Sumo services are available and Pangin is also well connected by bus service from Itanagar the capital city of Arunachal Pradesh and it is almost 7 hours drive.
