The large Burial ground with about 1000 graves of allied soldiers are believed to be mostly of Chinese, Kachins, Indian, Britishers and Americans soldiers who died in Second World War and the cemetery of those soldiers is located at Stilwel Road or Ledo Road which is in the Jairampur – Nampong road in the district of Changlang in the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh in India. The Burial ground or the cemetery of Jairampur is totally covered with thick jungles midst and from Jairampur town it is almost 6 kilometers away from Ledo it is 39 kilometers away and 24 Km before reaching Pangsau Pass (Hell Pass), India – Burma (Myanmar) border. The place was discovered in the year of 1997 when the Army was cleaning the area they found of around 1000 graves within an area of about three-acre. The cemetery has three different entrance and all the graves are arranged in five lines and several rows also in the center there is a large grave possible a mass burial. Now most of the graves of the burial ground are damaged and maybe it is because of the wild elephants who apparently get into since it is a jungle area or maybe by grave robbers as per the locals. The cemetery is one of the largest Second World War cemeteries in India and many graves had been damaged except few. Jairampur is under the Nampong area and to reach Nampong the nearest railway station is the Tinsukia railway station of Dibrugarh town and the nearest airport is Dibrugarh airport. From Dibrugarh one can take Assam State Transport Buses to Jagun via Margherita and from there one needs to transit to Arunachal State Transport Buses for Nampong via Jairampur. So to reach Jairampur actually you don’t need to reach Nampong also. From Jairampur to Nampong the distance is about 18 kilometers.
