The Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling Monastery is an ancient Monastery of Mirik which is at a distance of around 1 km from Sumendu Lake and 2 km away from Mirik bus stand. The monastery has two retreat centres nearby and a monastic college, a Shedra. The upper part of the Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling Monastery gives you the best and panoramic view of Sumendu Lake. One can see the perfect 360-degree view of Mirik from Bokar Ngedon Chokhor Ling Monastery. Inside the monastery, it has a lot of paintings and statues with high-level craftsmanship. In clear weather the view of Mt. Kanchenjunga is magnificently seen from here. An abode of peace, Lord Buddha is seated in the main hall in absolute tranquillity even the main hall also feels very spiritual. There are schools, hostels, guest houses, canteen, medical clinic etc all within or around the monastery which is run very efficiently by the authorities of the Monastery. There are special prayer halls where special ceremonies and events take place. All the Lamas here are very affable and interact with all visitors with a smile. The Monastery opens at 8 AM in the morning and closes at 5 PM in the evening. Once you enter, please read the universal advice on display.
