Mayudia pass is located at a distance of 56 km from Roing Arunachal Pradesh which is also the district headquarter. The Mayudia pass is located at a sea level of around 2655 meters. "Mayodia" is a Deori-Chutia word which stands for "shrine of mother goddess", "Mayo" which means "mother goddess", "Di" means "water" and "Ya" means "land". The pass attracts a lot of tourists and it normally witnesses snowfall from the month of November to March. Lots of domestic tourists enjoy the snowfalls and during the month of January and February the passing witness heavy snowfall. Sometime the roads get blocked due to heavy snowfall.
The place is covered with thick snow during winters and the view of the pass is mesmerizing. One can also stay to experience the kind of hospitality absolutely blended with local traditions at the beautiful guest house overlooking the picturesque valley. Walk a little and you are in the midst of sprawling bears, fast running wild goats, flying squirrels, a variety of birds, and above all the famous Mishmi Takin. Mayodia is a snow seeker's abode. It is undoubtedly the best budget winter destination in NE India. Being one of the least dense areas in Arunachal Pradesh, it offers you everything from greener canvases to blue skies. Trekking in high altitudes in chilled weather and enjoying the peaks is a heavenly joy here. To reach Mayudia pass one needs to reach Roing first and from Roing one can hire a taxi for onward journey. The nearest airport to reach Roing is Chahua in Dibrugarh district in Assam and another airport is Mohanbari airport which is almost 148 kilometers away from Roing. From the airports one needs to hire a taxi or take public transport to reach Roing. Roing can be accessed through Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati of Assam which is almost 500 km away.
