Shnongpdeng is a small village on the banks of Umngot River which has emerged as an epicenter of adventure activities. It lies in the Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya District. Located at around 85 kms from capital city of Shillong, Shnongpdeng is very near to Dawki village.
Keeping the environment and cleanliness of the river water no motorized activity is available here. A lot water and adventure activities are available here, which attract tourists from all over India. Boating, Snorkeling, Ziplining, Scuba Diving, Kayaking, etc. are famous activities done here.

You can literally see Bangladesh from here and can row into Bangladesh if you have a valid visa. The villagers from Dawki are boatsmen and make it a point to clean the banks once a week. The waters are so crystal clear that it feels like the boats are in the air and one can see boat's shadow in river base soil.. There is an age old small suspension bridge runs above the river connecting the two countries.
Keeping in mind of sustainable tourism, there are no Hotels in the region. There are campsites between the villages of Shnongpdeng and Darrang. A number of water sports activities are offered by these camp sites and operators one can opt for staying in a home stays in the villages.
