The small and beautiful village Takdah is located at an altitude of around 4000 feet which is approximately 28 kilometres away from the hills of queen “Darjeeling”. Originally it is called Tukdah and it is a Lepcha word for “mists” and “fog”, the beautiful village Takdak is quiet, serene and far enough to be isolated. The place is much cooler as compared to its surroundings although the altitude is much lower than the town Darjeeling. In the early 1900s during the British colonial days, Takdah started as a military cantonment and many of the senior British officers used to visit the place frequently since they have built the houses and the bungalows.
