Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary is approximately eight km away from the main town of Zunheboto in the Pungro circle, headquartered in Nagaland and is located close to the Indo-Myanmar border. Spread over an area of 642 hectares, this sanctuary is home to rich fauna like Slender, Loris, Panther, Himalayan bear, Jungle cat, Barking deer, Tigers, Tragopan pheasants, Hoolock gibbon etc. The Tourists need to take a special permission from the State Forest Department for visiting this sanctuary. It is a must visit attraction on a wildlife tour to Nagaland.
Here one can see good variation in landscapes with hills, high ridges, deep gorges and narrow valleys. Because of this variation in altitude, vegetation is equally varied. Area is eloped in green meadows, and vast vegetation. A good variety of bird species like Great Hornbill, Tragopan, Jungle Fowl, and Doves can be discovered during the winter season, November to February.

Throughout the year, the region experiences heavy rainfall because of which forests are full of undergrowth. Due to which here one can find dozen species of ferns and orchids Bay flower, and Cinnamon trees.
Travelers with a valid Inner Limit Permits are allowed to go inside the restricted areas of the wildlife sanctuary. The ideal time to visit Fakim wildlife sanctuary is from November to February. There is a PWD Inspection Bungalow and a Circuit House in the region that provide accommodation to the visitors.
