To watch the dawn light break over a spectacular 250 km stretch of the Himalayan horizon, including Everest (8848 m), Lhotse (8501 m), and Makalu (8475 m) to the far west, rise early and take a jeep out to Tiger Hill (2590 m), 11 km south of Darjeeling, above Ghum. This daily morning spectacle (views are best in autumn and spring) is a major tourist attraction, and you'll find hundreds of jeeps leaving Darjeeling for Tiger Hill every morning at 4 am – traffic snarls en route are quite common.
Chatakpur Village situated Within Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary, the sanctuary with an area of 38.88 sq. km has an elevation of 1500-2600 m. Surrounded by high mountains Senchal receives a very heavy amount of precipitation. Such a water-rich situation has made this Sanctuary the water supply source for Darjeeling Town. Chatakpur village came into limelight for its pristine environment and unique location with majestic views of the mountains.

Senchal Lake, located 10 km to the south-east of Darjeeling, is the main reservoir of potable water for the Darjeeling town India. The lake is located at an altitude of 2,487 m atop a hill is the runoff of for most of the streams of the Senchal & Chatakpur forest. The hill also has one of the highest golf courses in the world. Senchal is one of the favourite picnic spot.

Samdrub Darjay Chöling Monastery located near the town of Sonada is the main seat of the Shangpa Kagyu Lineage. The monastery was founded by his eminence Dorjee Chang Kabje Kalu Rinpoche, who was born in Tibet in the year 1993. The monastery is located on the national highway connecting Siliguri to Darjeeling.
