The oldest monasteries in Asia are Lhagyala Gompa which is in Morshing Village in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh in India. The Lhagyala Gompa is situated in the mountainside and the view of the village Morshing is mesmerizing. The nearest town Rupa is almost 60 kilometers away from Lhagyala Gompa and the 80 kilometers away from the headquarter Bomdila. In the 7th Century Kachen Lama constructed the Lhagyala Gompa and the Gompa plays an important role in the socio-political and religious life of the entire area and it is the same Gompa was Khandro Drowa Zangmo was born. The term ‘Lhagyala’ means a repository of more than a hundred large icons. The Gompa is a sacred place for the followers of Buddhism and many Buddhist people visit the Lhagyala Gompa to offer prayers and goodwill for a family and the nations. The Lhagyala Gompa is next in position after Tawang Monastery in Arunachal Pradesh.
