Mahaguru Rimpoche, the founder of Buddhism in Tibet, had a far reaching prophecy about Sikkim. Some nine centuries later, the prediction came true when Lhatsun Namkha Jigmed, Kathog Kuntu Zangpo, and Nga – Dak Sempa Phunsog Ringzing, three wise Lamas from three directions gathered at Norbugang near Yuksam in West Sikkim and enthroned Chogyal Phuntsog as the first king (Chogyal) of Sikkim in 1642.

A footprint of Luatsun Namkha Jigmed endorses the place with divinity. As an homage to the erstwhile kingdom, a nearby stupa contains soil and water collected from all over Sikkim.
