The Mosque which is reputed for its architectural fitness is the Gedu Mia Mosque of Agartala which is situated in the district of Sahibnagar. Gedu Mia Masjid is the largest mosque in Tripura. The Gedu Mia Mosque is a pride of a Muslim of Agartala and the mosque is beautifully built and constructed with a stone that looks like a jewel and it is worth visiting as its architecture is very well implemented. The founder of mosque Gedu Mia used to drive an elephant and then became a motor garage worker later he became a driver but it was his lucky day as he bagged a contract for constructing an airport in Agartala in the year of 1942 by the last princely ruler Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya and from the profit, he earned from the construction he contributed to built a mosque hence the mosque was named after his name Gedu Mia Mosque. The Gedu Mia Mosque is exquisite with white marbled minarets and towers. There is a sprawling green space for religious congregations including weekly 'Jumma Namaz'. Though the location of the mosque is on a narrow congested lane and with a lot of parking issue but the visitors and the tourist visits the mosque to offer a prayer for healthy and wealthy life and some visitors goes to see the architecture since it is worth seeing. If one has an interest in architecture, one can appreciate the beauty of its construction. The Gedu Mia Masjid is also a place of pride for the Muslims of Tripura and it also bears testimony to the devotion and piety of a remarkable individual. To reach Gedu Mia Maszid one needs to reach Agartala airport, Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport and from the airport one can take a cab to reach the Gedu Mia Maszid since it is at the distance of 12 kilometers only which is almost half an hours’ drive.
