The ancient and magnificent structure of Ghanashyam House is situated in the northeastern state of Assam in the city of Sivasagar, which is also one of the historical places in the entire state of northeast India. The magnificent structure was named after an architect Ghanashyam who built the Ghanashyam House during the time of Ahom Kingdom. The Ghanashyam House was built by the Ahom King Rudra Singha in the year of 1696 to 1714 CE. The man Ghanashyam has also built a number of masonry buildings, temples and other structures in and around Joysagar and from many of the structure the Ghanashyam House is one and it is nestled on the bank of Joysagar Lake, the monument is a terracotta brick temple. The Ghanashyan House is also famous by two other names as Nati Gosain Dol or Ghanashyam Dol. The artwork and the architecture of Ghanashyam House is inspired by Islamic architecture, even the minor things resembles the art of Islamic architecture. The door openings with arches resemble Islamic architecture. Terracotta works can be seen all over the walls of the monument. A very similar to the Ghanashyam House the temples in Bishnupur in West Bengal were also constructed and they look similar in terms of architecture. Inside the Ghanashyam House there is also a kitchen house and locally it is known as Bhog Ghar. The monument does not have any similarity with any typical Hindu temple and also does not have any picture. The monument has a flat roof and in front of the structure, there is also a small verandah. The nearest airport to reach the destination is Jorhat Airport and the nearest railway station is Simaluguri Junction from both the place one needs to take a taxi or hire a private cab to reach the destination. The nearest bus station is Sivasagar Bus Station.

The Ghanashyam Uddin's masonry house that lay at Joysagar, and who came from Bengal during the Ahom reign crafted some beautiful buildings, some mythological pictures are also seen studded excellently at Ghanashyam Uddin's masonry house. This masonry house is almost similar to Kantalji temple located in Dinajpur, Bangladesh. We feel proud of Ghanashyam Uddin who came to Rongpur( old name of Sivasagar, Assam) during Ahom king Rudra Singha, and made some unparalleled buildings.

Yes, he came to Rongpur( Sivasavar)and he was the architect of most of the Ahom dols and buildings; but later on, be was deported to Rongpur of Bengal (now Bangladesh). He had crafted some of the most beautiful buildings in Sivasagar, and one other craftsmanship of his can be seen in Thawra dol in Sivasagar.
