The nearest airport is Bagdogra airport and the nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri railway station and both the airport and the railway stations are in Siliguri. From both, the place one needs to take any mode of transportation to reach Gangtok and the distance from Siliguri to Gangtok is approximately 4 to 5 hours but depending upon the road condition and the traffic the time travel may increase. To reach Lachung from Gangtok one can avail the taxi from the main town Gangtok, there are other sightseeing places on the way to Lachen where the travellers can enjoy the long drive. Although the distance from Gangtok to Lachung is approximately 140 kilometres the road conditions make the time travel long, it is although not very bad, but is mostly not the desirable one especially for the ones who are not an adventure type. Once you reach Lachung one needs to stay overnight and Yumthang Hot Spring the very next morning while visiting Yumthang Valley.
