Cheda Lake is also known as Chida lake or Loho Lake Chida among locals. The lake lies in Phek District of Nagaland and is a border to Manipur State. The serenely calm natural lake placing face-to-face with the sky (Chida) is another important destination which travelers must attend to in their visit to this village. It is located on top of the high hills drawing its water source from the springs of Kapamedzu Range. The lake is beautifully and naturally situated in the middle of a scenic and gently curved valley also popularly known for its lush green landscapes and is an ideal picnic spot.
With the initiative from the Government of Nagaland, a tourist bungalow near the lake was built. Under the Ministry of Culture, a Tribal Museum at Chida where the rich cultural and traditional artifacts of Chakhesang and the Nagas in general have been showcased.
Camping at Cheda Lake
The road to the lake is rough, but the destination worth it. The lake is small, but the surrounding makes the scenery beautiful. There are many small viewing points surrounded and views are speechless. The place is perfect to rejuvenate. Locals come here for picnic.
Camping near lake is a famous activity and during New Year time, camps remain full. There is no restaurant in the area, so keep eatables while visiting the place. Best time to visit here is during winters when skies remain clear and one can have best view from here with cold breeze.
