Accompanying the noted Sidheshwar Nath Mandir in the same area is a temple that is known for its stunning architecture and naturally formed caves. Meghna Cave Temple among other popular temple of the region is dedicated to lord Shiva and is located in Daporjo, close to Hong village in Ziro Valley. Dedicated to Lord Lakulisha who was the 28th embodiment of lord Shiva. This ancient cave temple dates back to 5000 years and was discovered in 1962. The temple is a must visit not only because of the religious importance it holds in the heart of locals but also because of its magnificent architecture. You can find some detailed carvings of Sanskrit scriptures and magnificent architecture here.
The rock-cut cave temple splits into two tunnels, allowing only one person to enter at a time, and the other appears to be an extension of the cave. As you move forward the interior of the tunnel gradually becomes darker and narrower. What makes it more special is the fact that the temple is nestled at an altitude of 300 feet which gives the temple stunning views of the surrounding mountains, lush green forest and swiftly flowing rivers.
Having said that, if you wish to see this temple come to life, you must visit it in Meghna Cave temple during Maha Shivratri, which happens during the month of February.
