One of the must-visit places in the heart of Mirik is Sumendu Lake, popularly known as Mirik Lake. It is one of the major attractions of Mirik both for the locals and the tourists. The lake is surrounded by pine forests on one side where there is a walking trail, and by a man-made garden on the other side where people can relax and enjoy the scenery.

The Indreni Pull (Rainbow Bridge), an 80-foot-long footbridge, connects the garden to the pine forest. It is a beautiful spot for a photoshoot.
There is also a temple of Singha Devi or Devi Sthan located on the western bank of the Lake.

There are two viewpoints near the lake namely Rameetya Dara and Deosi Dara from where you get the best views of the snow-capped Himalayan Range and the valley.

The place where the present lake stands used to be a marshland having a very thick growth of plants and the garden area was once a polo ground used by the British.
