Tripura is known as a land of fourteen Goddess and the fourteen Goddess Temple in Tripura is known as Chaturdash Debta Temple and the temple owned its name from fourteen deities called Chaturdash Debta. The temple is located in Old Agartala which is almost 6 kilometers away from Agartala a capital city of Tripura and in the year of 1667–1676 AD the temple was built by the Maharaja of Tripura, Govinda Manikya. The roof of the temple looks like a dome of a village huts. The fourteen deities are built-in tribal design and are named in local Kokborok language.
The temple has fourteen images of Hindu Gods and Goddess which includes Siva, Durga, Han or Vishnu, Ma or Lakshmi, Vani or Saraswati, Kumar, or Kartikeya, Ganapa or Ganesha, Brahma, Prithivi, Abdhi or Samudra, Ganga, Sikhi or Agni, Kamadeva, and Himadri. Every year during the month of July near the temple Kharachi Festival is organized where thousands of devotees attain the festival. All the tribal and non-tribal communities visit the festival site and they really enjoy a lot.
They offer a prayer for healthy and wealthy life for all the family members. Many people from neighboring states also visit almost every year to offer a prayer for peace, happiness, and prosperity. The Chaturdasha Devata Temple is a magnificent piece of art that admixes harmoniously the tribal beliefs with Hindu myths to grant the travelers a true sense of faith. Chaturdasha Temple is one of the must-visit temples in Tripura although there are many temples in and around Tripura but Chaturdasha Temple is the most attractive temple especially for tourist attractions. The temple is open from morning 8 AM to 12 noon only since it is not open after 12 noon so the visitors have to visit during the morning to get darshan. There is also a beautiful lake beside the temple which makes the temple looks more beautiful.
