Sadu Chira waterfall is known as the Leimaram waterfall because of its closeness to Leimaram in the Bishnupur District of Manipur. It is in the middle of the forest, one has to hike a little to reach the waterfall. It has become one of the famous tourist destinations in Manipur. But the certified name for the waterfall is Sadu Chiru. The local name is derived from the Sadhu Chiru Hills, after which the village is also named after. The waterfall was manually enlarged and brought to the present state by the hard work of Sadu Chiru village men and women and thus, it is not befitting to give any other name other than Sadhu Chiru Waterfall. It is around 29km from Imphal and falls under the Senapati District.
In a state surrounded by mountains, one would expect lots of waterfalls like the ones in Meghalaya and Sikkim, but honestly, there are not many waterfalls in Manipur. There are few waterfalls but well maintained and good for sightseeing.
Visited this place today. My advice to environmental activists: please create awareness among the public to not throw plastics, water bottles, fruit drink cans, chips, chocolate, and biscuit wrappers. It may deteriorate the area. Also, the native biodiversity needs protection, and careful maintenance of the steps and trails is needed as many places are highly slippery.
