Willong Khullen is a village located some 37 km (23 mi) from National Highway 2 (India) (Maram) on the Maram-Peren Road. It is home to a stone erection very similar to Stonehenge. Some of the tallest stones are seven meters tall and one meter thick. It is a small beautiful village with neatly stacked tin-roofed houses. It is 200 meters diversion from the National Highway through a newly laid road. In the entrance of the road you will find rows of vertical stone slabs in different shapes and sizes which are surrounded by picket fence (made out of wooden logs). These monoliths are basically man-made in the memories of the tribe warriors, the head of the village, and some of foe elderly people of the village.
But there are few people in the village who don’t think like that, some people think these monoliths are the holy spirits which come alive at night.
People of Willong village's main occupation are cultivating rice. The people here are warm and curious. This place's main attraction is the stone slabs. The people you will find here are all Maram Naga Tribe. The head of the tribe makes sure the people of the village won’t forget their roots of traditions and to do that they celebrate few festivals in the village. Ponghi (a seven-day rice festival), Monkhang( festival for women), Kanghi ( a week-long festival where one can see different kinds of acts which they do to put up a show to ward off evil spirits.
The roads to reach Willong are pretty good and well maintained. The view is amazing from everywhere. It is a big village with a good number of the population. They have a beautiful big church in the middle of town. People there usually wear traditional attire including the children’s.
