The beautiful Mehao Lake is located within the Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary and it is at a height of 3000 feet and from Roing town the Mishimi Hills is almost 14 kilometers away. This tourist destination in Arunachal Pradesh is less explored and very few people visit this lake. It is a natural lake amidst lush green forest is located in the heart of Mehao. The spot provides an ideal trekking experience and is a photographer’s delight. Though one need to trek almost for 7 hours to reach the Lake it is worth visiting and it is said that the best view comes after the hardest climb. The area of the Mehao Lake is about 4 sq.km and it is a vast lake. The beautiful Mehao Lake is a natures’ treasure house the lake attracts a lots of seasonal birds and the water of the Mehao Lake is absolutely clear and a huge number of wild ducks are attracted towards the Mehao Lake especially during winter season.

There is no fish in the lake since the lake is low in nutrients and hence it is a crystal clear lake. The water of the stunning Mehao Lake is enormously crystal clear and a boat ride walk around the lake fills one with marvelous satisfaction. The surroundings of this lake are extremely rich in flora and fauna. The crystal clear deep water and chilly winter is the perfect combo. This place is also a home for a variety of tree species, many different kinds of tree species are found like Alnusnepalensis, populus ambeli, Castanopsis indica, C.spicata, Betula alnoides and many kinds of wild mammals are also found in this sanctuary. To reach the Mehao Lake one need to follow the following route:

Day 1: Arrival Tinsukia by train or arrive Mohanbari and drive towards Roing

Day 2: Start a trek early morning from Roing to Mehao.

Day 3: Walk back from Mahao to Roing

Day 4: Depart from Roing for an onward journey.
