In the local language, the word Tinchuley means three Chullas or three ovens. The leading effort comes from the Gurung family who has developed the model of homestay to suit their condition. The people of Tinchuley have undertaken several eco-friendly projects including the building of forest nursery, floriculture project, bio-compost manure projects, and many other such projects. The must-visit tourist destinations in Tinchuley are the Sunrise point of Tinchuley from where the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the Teesta valley can see.
From the viewpoint, one can also see some of the major places like Kalimpong of West Bengal, Namchi of South Sikkim and some places of East Sikkim can be visible. One can also visit the Tinchuley monastery where a monk meditated almost for 17 years.

Tinchuley is easily accessible by road, Teesta bazaar is the shortest route for the travellers travelling from Kalimpong, Sikkim and Siliguri and from Teesta bazaar it is approximately 15 kilometres away. There are many other alternate routes like Rangli, Takdah etc. Tinchuley can be visited throughout the year but the best time to visit Tinchuley is from mid-September to December when the sky remains clear.
