Tips to Remember before taking a tour to Northeast India

Covering the beautiful forests, monasteries, snow-capped mountains, pristine Lakes and Rivers and cascading waterfalls and all parts of North East India feels like magic. Tourist feel it takes you one step closer to heaven, and that every traveller once in their lifetime should go on a North East trip once to discover the secrets of North East India!

Here are some of the Tips you should know before visiting the Northeast India:

1. “I have heard that it’s not safe for tourists”- To this statement we would like to state that it is a misconception that the mainland Indians are cradling. Northeast is safest place for women. This part of India has a distinct culture and when you visit have a respect for their culture and that’s all- you will get nothing but friendliness in return.

2. Festival of Festivals- Northeast is known to have the best music festival in comparison to the rest of India.

3. You must possess a valid passport and visa. And before touring to states like Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim and Nagaland, travellers need to have Restricted Area Permits.

4. Get medical check-up before traveling to Northeast India. Always keep a personal first aid box.

5. As the Northeast region has entirely different culture and cuisine from rest of the India, you need to take basic food safety precautions while travelling in this region.

6. Foreign nationals should not enter places of worship where permissions are required.

7. Do not take photographs of places (i.e military base, religious place, etc.) where filming is restricted.

8. While going for adventurous sports (like Rafting and Trekking), always seek guidance of an expert guide.

9. Avoid public drinking and drugs.

10. Be security conscious. If any problems occur, contact to nearest police station.

11. Keep yourself updated of current local news about climate and political scenario of the region.
