It is located at an altitude of 5800 feet; Echey monastery is located at Echey Gaon. The monastery is known for its excellent tranquility. This hilltop monastery is a must-visit of Gangtok.

It is an imperial gompa and an integral part of the Tsuk La Khang royal palace. This splendid monastery is the centre of Buddhist literature and has served as a venue for many ceremonial celebrations of the royal family. This monastery has a simple palace yet beautiful at the back of the monastery. It is one of the most famous tourist attractions of the town. The monastery celebrates several annual festivals that showcase the ethnic mask dances that are performed by the monks.

Lingdum Monastery (also Ranka Lingdum or Pal Zurmang Kagyud Monastery) is a Buddhist monastery near Ranka in Sikkim, North East India, about an hour's drive from Gangtok. It was completed in 1999.
