The Kamaleshwari Temple which is situated in the Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat of the Dhalai District of Tripura and it is one of the most famous and most visited tourist destinations in the state of Tripura. It is situated in the largest sub-divisional town of Tripura called Kamalpur. This Temple is located in the centre of the town and a major pilgrimage spot. Kamaleswari is another name of Goddess Kali. From Ambassa the Kamaleswari Temple is approximately 35 kilometres only. The Kamaleshwari Temple is located in a beautiful lake known as the Kamalasagar and it is about 25 kilometres away from Agartala the capital city of the state Tripura. The Kamaleshwari Temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali, the goddess of Shakti. Goddess Kali is the principal deity in Tripura and for this reason the Kamaleshwari Temple is also known as the Kasba Kali Bari by the local population. The temple is always crowded since many devotees and tourists from around the world visit the temple. The Kamaleshwari Temple was built in the 15th Century and the worshipping of the Goddess Kali is still carried out following the rituals of the royal lineage. The temple is located near the border of Bangladesh and the location is really beautiful surrounded by green grassland and a relaxing lake which is also one of the main tourist attractions with a scenic beauty of great serenity. The Kamaleshwari Temple is decorated with bright and glamorous festivities during the Navaratri and Diwali celebrations. During the festival time, the place is overcrowded but it is worth to visit. Throughout the year the temple is crowded by worshippers but the best time to visit the Kamaleshwari Temple is during the month of September and May. To reach the Kamaleshwar Temple from Agartala one need to hire a taxi from Agartala or can take a mode of public transportation from Agartala to Ambassa and Kamalpur.
