Located at 11,800ft, Yumthang in North Sikkim is known as "the valley of flowers." Housing the beautiful Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary, it is an abode of innumerable species of rhododendron and other alpine trees and flowers. A number of sulphur hot springs, considered to have healing powers, will soothe your body and mind. The ideal time to experience the flora in full bloom is spring. In summer, the valley turns into a gazing pasture of yaks and nomad herders. During winter, a thick layer of snow envelops the vista.
Yumthang is 150 km from Gangtok, and Lachung is the last stop from where Yumthang can be accessed easily.
